SABMiller has awarded MEC Global Solutions its international planning brief, though the appointment will not affect local media agency relationships, according to the client. MEC Global Solutions, the client consultancy division of MEC, has been tasked to train and mentor SABMiller’s staff in order to enhance the company’s communications planning. The account will be headed out of London, under the leadership of Jim Taylor, regional director, retail, Mediaedge:cia.
"A new crop of consumer influencers maintain a wider range of media behaviors, possess a higher degree of market smarts and attitude, and are highly skilled at spreading the word." The consumer has a new face -- again. Yet another wave of millennial consumer taxonomy is headed down the pike. In recent years, Sony Corp. has stood helpless as Apple eats its lunch in the portable-music-player category it created; as it was forced to recall 10 million defective laptop batteries; and as its next-generation video-game console flopped like a sumo wrestler.
