MTV site revamp to target online rivals |

Viacom-owned MTV Networks is to relaunch its main website and position it as a general music and entertainment portal, in an attempt to win back users flocking to rival youth sites such as MySpace. The youth TV broadcaster will promote its nine flagship TV channels including MTV One, MTV Hits and VH1 through specifically built campaign sites, which are each linked to its revamped main site. The move enables MTV to be relaunched as a generic music and entertainment destination.

Google has redesigned its logo for one day only to celebrate the 50th anniversary of toy brand Lego, even though it has a strict policy of not placing advertising on its iconic homepage. Google said the redesign did not involve any payment from the Danish firm because it does not place advertising on its homepage, and instead said it was part of its long-running tradition of creating "special designs for quirky anniversaries". While mobile TV audience are projected to hit up to 500 million in the next five years, the advertising and subscription models are still in their infancy stage, according to a new report. "The chocolatier reported a 65% drop in net profit for the fourth quarter, citing high dairy costs, among other factors.". Beleaguered Hershey Co. today promised to raise its marketing game in an effort to halt continuing share loss to rival Mars -- but many analysts aren't buying it. "Our primary goal in 2008 is to stabilize U.S. business marketplace performance," said President-CEO David J. West. Mr. West succeeded Richard Lenny, who retired suddenly as CEO in October, precipitating a boardroom shake-up.
