Diageo Asia Pacific organised a glamourous week-long golfing event in Phuket for VIP guests and golfing stars in order to promote its premium alcohol brand. Diageo Asia Pacific wanted the Johnnie Walker Classic 2007 to be more than just a golf event, they wanted it to be a platform to promote the philosophy that lies at the heart of the Johnnie Walker brand – ‘Keep Walking’. SABMiller has seen UK sales rise by 42% over the six months ending September 30, bucking the trend in the market, and leading its managing director to criticise the aggressive expansion techniques of bigger premium brands. The company said the rise in sales was led by Italian brand Peroni Nastro Azzurro and Pilsner Urquell, as well as Polish brands Tyskie and Lech, which have seen sales rise with the number of Poles moving to the UK

Booze brands scale back youth promos |

Children and young adults are being exposed to fewer alcohol ads on television and marketers are already scaling back on the number of booze ads aimed at youngsters, according to new research. Ofcom and the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) today published the results of joint research on the impact of alcohol advertising on young people, and found that between 2002 and 2006, advertising impacts fell by 31% for 16-24 year olds and 39% for 10-15 year olds.

Coca-Cola is bringing back its 'holidays are coming' ad, following scores of calls to its customer information centre from people who said it marked the beginning of Christmas. Coca-Cola has decided to use two of its best-loved ads during the Christmas period, kick-starting with "holidays are coming" from November 18.
