JWT has pulled out of the advertising pitch for Vietnamese telco S-Fone, an account it handles, citing conflict with global client Nokia as the reason for its withdrawal. The move leaves Leo Burnett, Ogilvy & Mather and DDB in the running for the business. The S-Fone account has been marred by rumours of unpaid fees by the client in the past, with some agencies suggesting they may walk away from the business, even if they win it. S-Fone has pitched the account every year in recent years,

A report released by the Internet Advertising Bureau made it very clear that Internet advertising has arrived. Online revenues topped $5 billion in the Q3 of 2007 and are expected to exceed $6 billion in Q4. Both are industry records and industry pundits predict it is just the beginning. Some analysts say Internet revenues will double from more than $21 billion in 2007 to $42 billion in 2011. Others say that projection is conservative. Samsung paid dearly to become the official wireless sponsor of the Olympic Games. Now it just has to figure out if the standard bells and whistles on many of its phones intrude on other major sponsors' exclusive turf. Samsung, Panasonic and Kodak each shelled out more than $1 million to become one of the games' dozen "Top Programme" sponsors, which gives them exclusive rights to hawk wireless, audio/video and imaging devices, respectively, through the Olympic platform.

Almost 50 years ago, a function called "investor relations" was created within the public relations division at General Electric for the purpose of communicating with investors. In those days, individuals rather than institutions dominated the investor community. The concept of investor relations (IR) evolved slowly over the next 30 years, largely within corporate communication divisions of major publicly held companies and as a consulting function in public relations firms.
