Chelsea Football Club is expanding its digital offering with the launch of Bluetube, an online video service that allows football fans to upload user generated content. The initiative is intended to provide supporters with a platform for sharing their views on Chelsea games, players and upcoming fixtures, as well as video footage of club-related events. The Bluetube service, developed in conjunction with Level 3, forms part of Chelsea Plus, a new area of the club's website
dedicated to news, training-ground reports and special match day features. The service also includes live commentary with build-up for fans unable to attend games in person.
Chelsea FC will roll-out a series of heavyweight online advertising campaigns during 2008 to support the launch of the subscription-based service.
Earlier year, Chelsea FC announced plans to use social networks to raise its global profile. The club intends to extend its recently launched YouTube channel to across other web 2.0 sites including Bebo, Facebook and MySpace.
