Asia Pacific has over 300 million internet users who are at least 15 years of age accessing the web from work and home computers according to the latest key findings released by ComScore, yesterday. The APAC findings, which came from ‘Digital World: State of the Internet' report, show an increase of 14% versus from a year ago as of January 2007, and makes the region the largest of the five worldwide regions (Europe, North America, Latin America, Middle East - Africa)...

In terms of internet users aged over 15, the survey showed APAC has 308,817,000, Europe has 232,866,000, North America has 183,823,000, Latin America has 59,025,000, and Middle East - Africa has 39,904,000. The figures exclude traffic from public computers such as internet cafes or access from mobile phones or PDAs.

Other notable key findings include Google being named as the dominant search brand in most countries, including most of Europe and Latin America, with a few significant exceptions - countries where Chinese, Korean, and Russian languages dominate. Chinese language search engine Baidu currently ranks third in worldwide search market share, behind Google and Yahoo.

Also, the report highlighted the number of worldwide visitors to social networking sites had grown 34% in the past year to 530 million which represents approximately two out of every three internet users. MySpace and Facebook each attracted more than 100 million visitors per month while online video became the dominant online entertainment format, led by the global appeal of YouTube with more than 250 million visitors in January.
